Green

Green, 2024

120 x 120 cm, Acrylic on canvas
“Green” depicts the front of a green luxury car – in strict frontality and with great painterly precision. Headlights, fenders and radiator grille structure the otherwise almost abstract image, while the lacquered body of the car becomes a reflective projection surface. Not only the motif but also its surroundings are condensed in the automotive surface: a room, a garage, the artist’s studio? Lights and architectural lines are reflected precisely in the paintwork and the glass. The car thus becomes an extension of the space, and the painting an intersection between object and environment. What at first glance looks like a technical portrait turns out to be a concentrated study of perception, materiality and the quiet interplay between motif and surroundings. Can you identify the model? ;) Thomas Düwer, born in 1959, specializes in photorealistic painting. His works are distinguished by exceptional attention to detail and technical precision, which often cause them to be mistaken for photographs at first glance.
